Birds like great tit, crested tit, blue tit and long-tailed tit live well together with our smallest bird, the golden crest, in pine and spruce forests. Flying insects, caterpillars and beetle larvae are not present in great numbers, and larger birds find it difficult to raise a nest of young here. Birds of prey such as buzzards and hawks, do choose tall pines or spruces for their nests, but they hunt in an open areas and do not depend on food directly in the vicinity of their nest.
